AMO Knowledge Exchange on Community and Supportive Housing

October 1, 2024
At the AMO (Association of Municipalities of Ontario) Knowledge Exchange on Community and Supportive Housing, Nyasha Harper-Michon, Director of Programs at CP Planning, joined a panel discussion on enabling affordable housing development. Alongside experts from Bruce County and EllisDon Community Builders, the talk highlighted strategies for advancing affordable housing through equity-focused partnerships with non-profits, leveraging municipal tools like data, funding, and planning, and collaborating with developers to streamline project processes.

Nyasha emphasized a human rights-based approach to housing, presenting resources such as the NIFTY Affordable Housing Tool and advocating for P4 partnerships that include government, non-profit, private, and philanthropic sectors.

The AMO Knowledge Exchange, held on October 1-2, 2024, brought together over 200 participants, including elected officials, and municipal, provincial, federal, and Indigenous leaders, to advance Ontario’s community and supportive housing system. The event provided a vital platform for sharing insights, building understanding, and driving action toward meaningful change in municipalities across the province.
