Happy International Women’s Day 2021!

There’s no doubt that female leaders within the field needs visibility. I know that hearing about and connecting with other female leaders with diverse backgrounds in the industry has been an important part of developing my career and my confidence as a professional.

I’ve put together a short list of resources championing women architects below. There’s online magazines, podcasts and stats. But first, here’s a thought: If we all reached out to at least one woman on Women’s Day and shared ideas on how to advance the role of women in our field, just imagine the impact we could make.

Resources championing women architects

What better day to take time to read up on female role models than today? Here’s my list of resources championing the remarkable women shaping the future of the built environment:

1. Architizers list of 100 Women to Watch in Architecture. Architizer created an extensive list of “innovative women in architecture, each of whom is helping to shape the future of the built environment.” 

2. Madame Architect by Julia Gamolina – Online magazine celebrating the extraordinary women that shape our world. Featuring articles, columns and interviews with female professionals within the industry.

3. Mevrouw de Architect, A.Zine by Merel Pit (for dutch folks) – Online magazine showcasing female architects and other designers in architecture with vision and ambition to change the field.

4. Design Voice Podcast by Catherine Meng, a podcast amplifying the voices of women in the AEC professions.

5. Statistics and inforgraphics on women in architecture in the United States presented by ACSA’s Kendall A. Nicholson. The ACSA is an international association of architecture schools preparing the next generation of architects, designers, and change agents.
